Alain Fournier is a Concordia University graduate, he is particularly interested with the fantasy genre. His first short film Of Mother and Tides (À Mère et Marées) (2008) won several awards (Fantasia, Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, Festival Off-court Trouville-sur-Mer). His second film Öko (2009), filmed with puppets, was nominated for the 2010 Jutra Award (Quebec, Canada) for Best Animation. Inner City (La Cité entre les Murs) (2011) is his second essay with puppets, this time mixed up with 3D animation. He then directed Broken Face (Sale gueule)(2014), still with puppets, was screened at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal.
