His once-clear dream begins to drift out of focus, and he embarks on a lengthy quest to find his way. A vibrant community of drag queens becomes his refuge, sparking a new path as he transitions to Ashila. As uncertainty looms, the spirits of Candomblé offer him hope, while his sister remains an unwavering pillar of support. Through an intimate, direct cinema approach, Circo immerses us in the lives of residents of Brazil’s favelas as they seek to shape their own futures.

Lamia Chraibi
Lamia Chraibi est une cinéaste franco-marocaine basée à Montréal. Elle s’intéresse particulièrement aux thèmes de la justice sociale, l’identité, la famille et le territoire. Elle traite également de sujets liés au langage du corps et à l’art social. L’humain et la rencontre de l’autre sont au cœur de sa démarche. Ses études en sciences sociales (Sorbonne, Paris) et en réalisation documentaire (INIS, Montréal) ont façonné son regard sensible et engagé sur le monde. Son univers artistique se nourrit de ses questions identitaires, son parcours migratoire et ses voyages. Le cinéma de Lamia est basé sur le temps et la confiance établie avec les protagonistes. Avec une approche poétique, sa caméra donne une voix aux oublié.e.s de divers horizons.
