A native of Slovenia and settled in Montreal since 1993, Tomi Grgicevic started in cinema with few 16mm projects during his cinema studies at the Université de Montréal. Subsequently, he directed several documentaries and short fiction films.In 2003, his film Bager was nominated for Jutra award in the category Best short film in Quebec. His short films were screened in many festivals in Europe and Canada. In 2011, Migizi won the Innovation Award/ National Film Board of Canada at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois.
Since 2009, he directs 4 documentaries with Davyd Tousignant, selected at different film festivals in Quebec.
